Challenge
No matter the occasion, flowers are one of the most popular gifts. Nowadays, there are more and more online flower shops. But when looking at the ratings, customers are rarely satisfied. From expensive delivery that arrives on the wrong day to poor quality of the goods, there are a lot of things that do not work as they should. In addition, environmentally aware customers struggle with the fact that their online purchases and transport result in very high greenhouse gas emissions.
Solution
Posy is an innovative and climate neutral online shop for flower bouquets. Instead of polluting the earth with emissions resulting from long supply chains and transport, Posy works with and supports local flower shops. Every order is handmade and can get picked up at the chosen store or be delivered by bike. Customers can learn all about flowers and their meaning on the website and create individual bouquets. To offer a new way to enjoy flowers, customers can order surprise bouquets based on personal instructions.

Design Process
We started our design process by doing some research first. We wanted to know for what reasons customers are unhappy with several online shops for flowers. We read hundreds of poor ratings and brainstormed how we could avoid those problems and improve the user experience. Afterwards, we created two personas, who helped us to get to know our audience.

Personas George and Chelsea
After several stages of defining and improving the concept, as well as the Unique Selling Point, we started first with scribbles and then with the wireframe prototype on Figma. The wireframe screens were based on the site map we created earlier in the process to keep a clear information architecture.

Site map
When it came to visual design, we decided on a refreshing and bright color palette, to really match the variety of flowers that one can purchase on the site. We worked with a grand set of components to build the website on Figma and to make it interactive. To keep track of all the different elements, we assembled them in our design system.

Learnings
For all three of us, Posy was the first website we did as a prototype. Usually, the design approach is "Mobile First", but for this task our time budget was too low to do mobile and web. This was definitely a challenge for me, but I think we can be proud of the result. In addition, this task was a very good preparation for my current project easygiveback (click here).
